Tip #3 - Hands & Feet

"May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift, may you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift. May your heart always be joyful, may your song always be sung, may you stay forever young" - Bob Dylan

One of the first areas to show signs of aging is your hands. Exposure to the sun and dehydration contribute to a less than attractive look not to mention how unattractive they might feel to the touch if you don't take care of your one-of-a-kind pair.

Following these sensible tips will have the recipient of the old-fashioned romantic hand holding ritual appreciate the beauty of yours. After all, if you take good care of the skin on your hands, it's likely your overall body grooming standards are equally as high. Oooh la la.

Treat yourself to professional manicures and pedicures. "Regular manicures and pedicures enhance shoes and jewelry," says Anne Chou, a California cosmetologist who stresses, "Not cutting back cuticles or pushing them back too far. Keep it gentle and light."

Add on aromatic salt rubs, hydrating masks and paraffin dips to your spa hand services for a luxurious treat.

Don't forget twice daily hand lotion application using a product with a sun protection factor (SPF). Have you ever considered the extent of sun exposure your hands get when you are driving and the windshield magnifies those damaging rays?

Carry a spare bottle of hand lotion in your purse; store one in your glove compartment and at your desk at work and place at your kitchen and bathroom sinks for easy access.

Choose neutral nail colors and keep the length of your nails manageable for the type of work you do. For special occasions or evenings out, apply a jazzy hot color or go for the classic French manicure. Your hands will be kissable, guaranteed.

For cracked, dry heels, Chou recommends the application of Neosporin. She says it works wonders. "Dab the size of a pea to the heels and it will heal the feet overnight, even better than Vaseline or lotions which can sometimes be greasy," says Chou.

Some at-home hand lotion treatments include gentle exfoliating action that will sluff off dry skin cells making for extra silky, smooth hands. So start today by stocking up on hand lotions with scents that please the senses, unless you are allergic, then go for the fragrance-free stuff. Either way, you'll thank yourself in the long run for the extra few minutes a day you spend pampering your hands and feet. Think of it as a beauty investment and your stocks are bound to soar.
