Hydroderm: Review & Comparison

Overview

Hydroderm claims to be the one and only anti wrinkle cream that contains whole collagen molecules. (The other anti aging creams contain partial, crushed collagen molecules.) This product is the company’s first product researched in their own labs. It was launched in 2003. This product is an effort towards creating an alternative to Botox. You are supposed to apply this cream twice everyday. The results should start showing within 21 days of application.

Product Details

The chief ingredient of Hydroderm is the whole collagen molecule. In fact, this whole collagen delivery system to the skin is the sole base of the product’s claim to defying age. This system is combined with Vyo-serum, a protein concentrate and another chief ingredient of this product. The protein tones the skin and enriches its texture, along with keeping it hydrated.
The other ingredients present in Hydroderm are purified water, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, cephene, synasol, trisodium EDTA, sodium methylparaben, potassium sorbate, imidazolidinyl urea, ascorbic acid, citric acid, and distilled water.
Apart from Hydroderm, the company has launched a complete line of skin care products, which includes a moisturizer, under-eye serums, an exfoliant, and a skin firmer.

What’s Positive

The company has applied a unique idea of creating a formula that contains whole collagen molecules that penetrate the skin and combine with the existing ones. It has also provided a 30-day product trial, free of cost.

What’s Negative

Hydroderm is an innovative product, but it’d have been better had the company supported its whole collagen delivery system with substantial medical research data. The company claims to have obtained collagen for their product from natural marine sources. However, they have not given any research evidence that shows that marine collagen sources are suitable for human skin. Moreover, this anti wrinkle formula contains parabens, which are artificial preservatives. Parabens have been associated with contact dermatitis and skin irritation in some people.

Bottom Line

First of all, Hydroderm leaves more questions than gives answers. Although its innovative whole collagen delivery system is admirable, it should be backed with concrete clinical research details. Yet, there are thousands of takers for this anti wrinkle formula. You need to apply this cream for 3 weeks continuously before you notice any improvement. Due to its lack of research data, using this product might be an experiment. But, if it suits your skin, you’ve found an answer to Botox!
